The Okavango Delta originates in the uplands of Angola and then spreads over the Kalahari Desert to create a rich and wondrous inland delta. Peppered with palm tree filled islands and fertile floodplains, the labyrinth of lagoons, lakes and hidden channels covers an area of over 17,000 square km and is the largest inland delta in the world. The overall length of the Delta from the border to the Thamalakane River is a little under 300kms, making the core of the Delta approximately 200km from end to end.
